This is the successor to a mmetroland.wordpress.com site that still may be floating around somewhere. It’s basically a scratchpad and archive, not necessarily for public consumption.
WordPress has made unwieldy, unconscionable enhancements to its platform in recent years. I would guess these are to accommodate individuals and businesses who want to put up a simple microsite in 15 minutes. But they are impediments to everyone else, forcing us to disable the “improvements” or find other workarounds.
